Human rights in Islam stem from two foundational principles: dignity and equality.
Dignity is a fundamental right of every human being merely by virtue of his or her humanity.
As God states in the Quran, “We have honoured the children of Adam and carried them by land and sea; We have provided good sustenance for them and favoured them specially above many of those We have created” (17:70).
Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) giving an example of Muslim unity is reported to have said in a Hadith:
“The Believers, in their mutual love, mercy and compassion, are like one body: if one organ complained, the rest of the body develops a fever.” [Bukhari & Muslim]
“The Muslim Ummah is like one body.” If the eye is in pain then the whole body is in pain and if the head is in pain then the whole body is in pain, if one member becomes sick then the other members of this one body will take care of the sick one:”
So we the Muslim Ummah, whatever colour, nationality or gender, wherever we are, are like this body. If we hear that any part of this Ummah is being oppressed, then we should feel this pain.
Abdullah ibn Umar reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “The Muslim is a brother to another Muslim. He does not wrong him, nor surrender him. Whoever fulfills the needs of his brother, Allah will fulfill his needs. Whoever relieves a Muslim from distress, Allah will relieve him from distress on the Day of Resurrection. Whoever covers the faults of a Muslim, Allah will cover his faults on the Day of Resurrection.”
