This is Romana Hoque, I am going to start my new series Our pious female predecessors with the story of two special women. One of them was among those 4 women who perfected their emaan.
Anas (RA) reported that Rasulullah (SAW) said: “From among the women of the world who have reached perfection in their faith -Maryam the daughter of Imrân; Khadijah daughter of Khuwaylid; Fatima daughter of Muhammed and Asiyah wife of Fir’aun” (Tirmidhi).
Yes I am going to start my series with Asiyah binte Muzahim wife of Firaon and another great women the hair dresser of a Firaon daughter who made an example of bravery who’s smell our beloved Rasul Allah (saw) encountered on night of israul miraj.
Very little we know about Asiya (as) personal life, where she borne or how was her childhood. We know she married Firaon before Musa (As) born and she was from very wealthy family. And she had no child. That was the reason when Musa (As) was found in box on River Nile she didn’t hesitate to adopt Musa (as) despite her husband was the worse human being ever walk in face of the earth. She was very generous one and she was famous for her generosity.
When she got the message of tawheed from Musa (as) she didn’t hesitate she immediately embrace the message of Musa (as) but she hide her faith from Firaon.
But one incident it exposed to Firaon that she accepted the message of Musa (as), how ? here the story of hair dresser of Firaon daughter come, whose beautiful smell our beloved Rasul Allah (saw) encountered on the night of israul meraj.
Firaon had a daughter not from Asya (as) from another female , this daughter had a hair dresser who accepted the message of Musa (as) secretly. One day she was combing the hair of Firaon daughter . and she dropped the comb. When she took the comb from the flore she said Bismillah-in the name of Allah, feraun daughter asking are you invoking my father? The hair dresser said I am invoking my lord and your father lord and your lord who created everything.
The daughter of Firaon informed Firaon about this incident . Firaon arrested that lady. because Firaon used to call himself as a god. And he asked the hair dresser to reject the message of Musa (as) and accept him as a god. The hair dresser rejected him and its hit ego of Firaon and he gave her ruthless punishment and he wanted to create example who would go against him they would face same fate, subahnallah now he become a example for the world his body preserved by Allah and it is now in museum people visit his helpless body subahnallah . He burned to death all children of hair dresser one by one in front of her. She had a breast feeding baby she was hesitate for a moment for this baby. This baby talked from cradle and said punishment in this world is much lighter than the torture and the punishment in the hereafter . Certainly it was miracle from Allah. Our beloved Rasul Allah (saw) said 3 baby talked from cradle one of them was hair dresser baby.
Firaon very brutally killed the hair dresser and her all children. That was the time Asiya (as) couldn’t tolerate anymore despite she knew what will be her fate she said Firaon I didn’t trust you I trust Musa (as) God. Firaon became shocked and more furious he said do you know what are you talking and what I will do with you after that. She said I knew and I don’t care. Subahnallah just think both of these lady stand before tyrant knowing what are they declaring it will bring harsh death but they didn’t hesitate to admire the truth and show their bravery. There were no human rights there were no saviour even Musa (as) was not presented there. Both of them put trust on Allah and face the reality bravely and gave priority akhera not this world. What a strong personality had both of them. Just think for a moment we are talking minimum 4 to 5 thousands years ago. Where women even not consider as a human being . At that time they stand against some one who was consider himself most powerful person in the earth even god . One is poor hair dresser nobody there to save her and another one was Asya (as) who was a wife of Firaon she was also helpless but their faith the teaching of tawheed made them able to stand against the tyrant for truth. This is the teaching of Islam where always inspire to stand against injustice it doesn’t matter who you are man or women it really doesn’t matter .
Hair dressers faith exposed accidentally but Asyia (as) exposed her faith by herself with bravery knowing her husband will not show any mercy and he didn’t , he killed her very brutal way. He tortured her ruthlessly and when he falied to bring back her from tawheed he ordered his soldier to through boulder on her to kill her. but she didn’t afraid or give up she just prayed o Allah save me from the evil of Firaon. And Allah took her soul before the boulder through on her subahnallah, what a brave women she was what a great example for us.
Asya (as) was a wife of Firaon and Firaon was a worse of worse person among the mankind.
Despite this reality she perfected her emaan.
And Allah honoured her by mentioning about her in Quran and also through Rasul Allah (saw) according to his (saw) hadith she was the amongs 4 women who perfected emaan.
Also Allah honor the hair dresser whose beautiful scent smelled by our beloved Rasul Allah (saw) on the night israul miraj.
In this story we see two women who fought against powerful man intellectually and when that tyrant failed became ruthless and gave them very harsh punishment. But Allah praised two women and give them higher rank.
So it is clear in Islam in front of Allah it doesn’t really matter who u are ? you are a male or female or rich or poor nothing actually matter . what is important how muttaqi or pious you are.
Who said Islam doesn’t praise women this story is a proof how wrong they are!
Spiritually man and women are same in front of Allah, As Allah said
Indeed, the Muslim men and Muslim women, the believing men and believing women, the obedient men and obedient women, the truthful men and truthful women, the patient men and patient women, the humble men and humble women, the charitable men and charitable women, the fasting men and fasting women, the men who guard their private parts and the women who do so, and the men who remember Allah often and the women who do so – for them Allah has prepared forgiveness and a great reward.
Sura azhab verse 36
In this ayat Allah clearly explained the spiritual duty for man and women are same and they are responsible for same way and reward in same way.
We ask Allah to bless us to gather us with Asiya (as) and those who perfected their emaan from the Saliheen, the siddiqeen, and certainly with our beloved Prophet (saw) n highest rank of Jannah . Ameen.
